Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992) | ||
Fifth Avenue Entertainment, USA
![]()
[Note: Filmed back-to-back with Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth in 1991 at the same
studios in High Point, North Carolina, production on this belated
sequel (entitled Children of the Corn II: Deadly Harvest during filming) was just
wrapping up as work on the other film was starting. When Lawrence Mortorff, who was a
producer on both films, asked me to do some pre-release publicity for this movie as
well, I found myself going out on location a couple of times with the second unit crew
while they filmed pick-up shots. The Production Manager on both films was the legendary
Phil Smoot who, in the mid-1980s, had directed
The Dark Power and Alien Outlaw, both starring veteran 1940s cowboy star Lash La Rue.

In Children of the Corn, Stephen King sowed the seeds of an unthinkable terror. In Children of the Corn II,
the blood harvest begins. Tabloid reporter John Garrett is on to a killer story—a cellar full of dead bodies in
Gatlin, Nebraska. Travelling with his estranged son Danny, Garrett goes to Gatlin for leads and comes up with
more corpses: a healthy man who inexplicably bled to death; an old woman crushed by her house; a doctor
killed by his own instruments. Soon Garrett comes to a terrifying conclusion: the murders have been summoned
by local children who are under the influence of a demonic spirit. And the only way to stop the killing
is to confront the evil where it lives—in the cornfield.
