When the hunter becomes the hunted. Based on Geoffrey Household's best-selling novel, this "grim,
suspenseful" (The New York Times) and "dramatic thriller" (Pacific Coast Musicians) is a "vastly
compelling" (New York Herald Tribune) ride that will hold you in its grip until its riveting final
frame. Deep in the Bavarian mountains, British big-game hunter Capt. Alan Thorndike (Walter Pidgeon)
has set his sights on the biggest prize of all—Adolf Hitler. But just as he is about to pull
the trigger, he is captured by Major Quive-Smith (George Sanders), a Gestapo leader, who wants
Thorndike to confess to being a hired British assassin. Knowing the political dangers a confession
could bring, Thorndike refuses and is tortured to near death before he manages to escape. Soon
the hunter is the prey as Thorndike, with the help of a beautiful street waif (Joan Bennett),
uses his animal instincts to evade his captors while their lives hang in the balance!
